What the Branch SDK needs from you

From Branch's own documentation and the SDK's published manifest and package files.

  • Android permissions
Docs tell developers to declare INTERNET and com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID (for Android 13+); the AAR manifest itself declares no permissions.
  • Play Install Referrer
Play Install Referrer library is bundled with the Branch Android SDK since 4.3.0 (POM dependency); developer adds it manually only below 4.3.0.
  • ATT prompt (iOS)
SDK does not show the ATT prompt; app requests it itself and can report the result via handleATTAuthorizationStatus(); docs recommend prompting after Branch init callback, no timeout API documented.
  • Deep links
Associated Domains (applinks:*.app.link plus -alternate and test domains), Info.plist branch_universal_link_domains and URL scheme; Android intent filter with autoVerify App Links and a URI scheme intent filter; session init callback returns deep link data (deferred included).
  • SKAN
SKAN set up in the SKAN Conversion Center; by default the Branch iOS SDK calls Apple's SKAN methods to update conversion values (opt-out available); needs StoreKit framework.

How does the Branch iOS SDK handle the ATT prompt?

SDK does not show the ATT prompt; app requests it itself and can report the result via handleATTAuthorizationStatus(); docs recommend prompting after Branch init callback, no timeout API documented.
